Every file you buy from this shop comes with a license. This page spells out what that license covers. The short version: personal use and small-business handmade sales are included; reselling the raw digital files is not. The longer version is below.
1. The standard license (included with every purchase)
When you buy a file from That Scrap Shop, you get a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use that file for:
- Personal projects — cutting, printing, and crafting for yourself, your family, your friends.
- Gifts — make a mug, a t-shirt, a candle, a planner kit. Give it to someone. No royalty owed.
- Small-business handmade sales — make the thing, sell the finished physical product (a printed planner kit, a custom mug, a stack of soap labels). Up to 500 units per design per calendar year. If you go over 500 units on a single design, that's great — see section 3 for an extended license.
- Marketing & shop listings — use the design's preview image in your Etsy / Shopify / Squarespace listings for items made with the file. Mock-ups included in the bundle are specifically meant for this.
2. What you can't do
Even with a license, you can't:
- Resell or redistribute the digital file — no uploading to freebie sites, no sharing in Facebook groups, no including in digital asset bundles, no selling as part of a "Cricut library" collection.
- Modify and resell as a new design — don't take my cut file, recolour it, and list it on Etsy as your own work.
- Use in print-on-demand services at scale — making 50 mugs with my floral wreath for your Etsy shop is fine. Listing the floral wreath as a print-on-demand design that ships to 5,000 different customers is not (that's redistribution).
- Claim authorship — the design is mine, hand-drawn in Procreate. Attribution on your product listings is appreciated but not required; outright claiming you designed it is not allowed.
- Use for trademark / logo purposes — these files aren't meant to be turned into brand logos. If you need a logo, hire a designer.
3. Extended license (for larger sellers)
If you're scaling a small business and need to use a design for more than 500 units per year, or to use in a print-on-demand catalogue, get in touch. Extended licenses are flat-fee per design, signed PDF, and based on what feels fair for both of us.
I don't do percentage-of-revenue licenses. I don't do "all-you-can-eat" bundles. The deal is: here's the file, here's the volume you want to make, here's a flat fee for that volume.
4. Transfers
Your license is non-transferable. You can't give, sell, or otherwise transfer the digital file to another person. If a friend wants the same design, they need to buy it themselves — that's how the shop stays running.
If your whole small business is sold or transferred to a new owner, the existing license transfers with it (for the volumes already in production). New volumes under the new ownership will need a fresh license.
5. Refunds & file replacement
The license is non-refundable once a working file has been delivered. If the file is broken or doesn't open, I'll replace it or refund — your call. See the terms of service for the full refund policy.
6. Termination
If you materially breach this license (e.g., reselling the digital file in a "free SVG" bundle, or using the design to make products for a hate group), I can terminate your license. You'd need to stop using the file and destroy any copies in your possession. Past sales of finished products made before termination aren't recalled — we're not the fun police.
7. Disclaimer
The files are provided as-is. I test every design on my own Cricut Maker 3 and home printer before listing, but I can't guarantee compatibility with every machine, software version, material, or future firmware update. See the terms of service for the full liability disclaimer.
8. Governing law
This license is governed by the laws of England and Wales (where the shop operates). Disputes are rare — when they happen, email works — but if we ever end up in front of a judge, that's the jurisdiction.
